2017 Medina Sandstone Hall of Fame

The call for nominations resulted in five new sandstone building being added for consideration for the Hall of Fame.

Those buildings are:

• St. Mary’s Church in Batavia
• Holy Sepulchre Cemetery – All Souls Chapel, Gate Houses, Stone Wall in Rochester
• First Lutheran Church in Jamestown
• First Methodist Church in Dunkirk
• First Baptist Church in Batavia
  (old newspaper reports at the time of church construction reported that this building’s gray stone was not sandstone)

The nominating committee visited each of these new nominees during September and subsequently selected four buildings (two were nominated in previous years).

The 2017 induction ceremony was held on Thursday, October 19 in Medina’s City Hall.

2017 inductees were:

• Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester
• First Lutheran Church in Jamestown
• Richmond Library in Batavia
• First Presbyterian Church in Albion
