The call for nominations resulted in eight new sandstone buildings being added for consideration for the Hall of Fame.

HOF committee members traveled across NYS to visit each nominated structure.

The new nominees for 2018 are:

Granchelli home in Medina NY (front porch)
St. Joseph’s cemetery chapel in Albion, NY
First Baptist Church in Holley, NY
“Whitehall” (private residence) in Brockport, NY (foundation only)
St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Olean NY
St. John’s Episcopal Church in Clifton Springs, NY
St. Mary’s in Canandaigua, NY
Olbiston Apartments in Utica NY

The ceremony for 2018 inductees in the Sandstone HOF took place on Thursday, October 18 at 1pm in Medina City Hall.  Three new structures were inducted and a new, more colorful HOF wall was shown to the public for the first time.

The three new inductees were:

  • St. John’s Episcopal Church in Clifton Springs, NY
  • James Prendergast Free Library in Jamestown, NY
  • Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church/Lafayette Lofts in Buffalo, NY


From back left representing St. John’s Episcopal Church in Clifton Springs is Andrew VanBuren, the church’s rector and representing Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church/Lafayette Lofts in Buffalo are Paul Meyer, a member of the Session, and Diane Poleon, a member of the church.
In the front row representing the James Prendergast Free Library in Jamestown are Tina Scott, library director, and Ned Lindstrom, a member of the library’s board.of trustees.
